Firefighters at Tatton Park Race for Life Pretty Muddy 5k

Thousands of women and their supporters will be descending on Tatton Park to get Pretty Muddy this Saturday (June 25), racing to raise money for Cancer Research's Race for Life campaign, and Cheshire firefighters will also be there.

No, they're not there to hose down the runners at the end of the five kilometre obstacle course but are there to see if any of the 5k heroes want to be a hero at work by joining the fire and rescue service.

Firefighters are taking a fire engine and examples of some of the national firefighter recruitment tests so that people can see just what is needed to become a firefighter. There will be female crew there to talk to interested people about what it is like to be a firefighter in today's fire and rescue service and recruitment team members to explain the application process.

Attending Race for Life's Pretty Muddy 5k is part of the Service's recruitment campaign to encourage more women to become firefighters. Anyone who has ever thought about becoming a firefighter, or even if they haven't but are now curious, is urged to have a chat to the crew on duty at Tatton Park. We're particularly looking to encourage women and people from diverse backgrounds to apply.

If you're there to take part in Pretty Muddy 5k or there to support, come and have a chat. We'll be there for the whole of Saturday's event.
