The next Public Hall cinema event will be on Saturday 24th March when two films will be coming to the village. The last event in January was a huge success and the Public Hall Committee believes the films planned for March are so attractive they are putting on an afternoon showing as well as the evening show.

The evening performance at 7.30pm on 24th March will be Miss Potter. Released a month ago, Miss Potter tells the story of children's author and illustrator Beatrix Potter. It blends stories from her own life with animated sequences featuring characters from her stories such as Peter Rabbit. The film stars Renée Zellweger in the title role, and Ewan McGregor as her publisher and fiancé, Norman Warne. Emily Watson also stars as Warne's sister, Millie.

It was filmed in Cecil Court, Covent Garden, the Isle of Man and the Lake District. Miss Potter was released on 29 December 2006 so that the film could compete in the 2007 Academy Awards. The film has received positive reviews and earned Renée Zellweger her sixth Golden Globe nomination.

The afternoon film at 5.00pm will be Charlotte's Web, a live-action/computer-animated feature film, based on the popular book of the same name by E.B.White. The film, which has been well received since its launch late last year features the voices of well-known personalities including Julia Roberts, Oprah Winfrey, Kathy Bates, John Cleese and Robert Redford. It stars Dakota Fanning

The success of cinema in Audlem, featuring recently released major films, depends on the support of residents. So far, the response has been excellent. Details of tickets, which can be booked in advance, will be on AudlemOnline shortly. In the meantime, make a note of the date 24th March.
