The splendid Spitfire photo was taken at last year's Festival of Transport by David Mansell. This year's event is coming up on Sunday 26th July and ASET, the Audlem Special Events Team, is delighted that a Spitfire from the Battle of Britain squadron will be flying over the Festival again.

It's a stirring sight and a real highlight of the Festival which has had an amazing number of vehicles trying to book a spot in the parade this year. Numbers are limited by the size of the playing field where the classic vehicles will be parked after parading from Hankelow to Audlem and driving through the centre of the village.

Over 380 vehicles are now registered for the 2009 vehicle parade to Audlem playing fields for the biggest celebration of transport in the region and entry is now closed for 2009.

Over 4000 visitors are expected to descend on Audlem centre to watch the passing of the gleaming vehicles and their proud owners. If that's not enough, prepare to be wowed by the arrival of the RAF helicopter training squadron and the aerial displays of the Spitfire.

We also understand historical boats will be mooring up on the canal, providing even more interest.

The Audlem Festival of Transport is free for all ages. We are sure that anyone with an interest in transport, or who has enjoyed other ASET-organised events such as the Midsummer Music on the Park ten days ago will enjoy another great Audlem event on 26th July.
