As they say, "The Carnival is over". What a fantastic village weekend was had by all. The meteorologists did us very proud and the sunshine was tremendous.

Yesterday we took down eight marquees, two stages, the banners, the "A" boards, the Art Display Boards. All in the five hours of the morning and early afternoon.

I would like to, on behalf of the Music & Arts team, say a huge thank you publicly to all who have given their time and offers freely to make for the success I believe it was.

  • The 85 performers presenting such a wide spectrum of music from classical to heavy rock.
  • The pubs for handling it oh so well.
  • The art team for a great display. We had well over 900 folks in over the three days viewing the display.
  • The kindness and community spirit of Eric Callwood in letting us use his field for camping.
  • Paul Jervis as our new and now permanent camp commandant.
  • Andy McClintock for all the time he gave in fetching stages and art boards.
  • Gavin Davies for keeping the village spotless and clearing the camp site of a small mountain of waste bags.
  • James Prince and his father for fixing the art boards.
  • Phil Johnson for aid in the Arts.
  • Geoff Stretch giving his time so readily.
  • Neil Goodyear with his input of muscle power.
  • Neil McGowan new to the community, for stepping up to the plate.
  • Yvonne Harrison for her valued input.
  • And a huge thank you to all the businesses of the village and in the district for their support as sponsors and for taking space in the programme.

What a Village we have here. What a community – with such a huge heart.

Not to forget the success of Carnival Day – with Punch and Judy playing to a large audience.

Now begins the debriefing – and the start of planning for 2017. Can we do even better??
