We, the Festival team – a small but very dedicated bunch of likeminded people, who put on the show for no return whatsoever other than the satisfaction of having done a good job of things – are very pleased to report that the Big Event last May, was a very happy success.

We had such a wide range of music and song to please all tastes. St James' church, thanks to the elders and our very supportive vicar, resounded to the voices of more than 250 -- ranging in age from 8 to 80.

Art was very big in our exhibition and the very wonderful involvement of over 90 children at St James' School in their art input and their wonderful poetry was a fine example of good community spirit.

We met last week to carry out our debrief of the happening and I am pleased to report that we resolved once more to put on a show for 2017. Our 17th such!

Planning now gets underway with regard to the range of performers and artistes-and we will be booking them firm well before the end of this year.

All of this of course cannot happen – the biggest free such event in all of Cheshire, and I believe Shropshire – without the superb support of our three pubs, our own Parish Council who do believe in fostering a good community, Cheshire East and all the wonderful businesses here in the village and also further afield.

For all those who stepped up to the plate with financial sponsorship, and all the volunteers who helped us over the 5 days- our most sincere thanks.

I will keep you posted as the months go by and hope that the fine weather we were blessed with this year, will also be the case in 2017.

Ralph Warburton, for the Festival Team: John Gunstone; Julian Harrison; Ian Haughey; Liz Haughey; Monique Hollinshead; Christine Johnson; Jack Marshall; Pete Marshall; Alisdair McKenzie; Reuben Palin; Chris Warburton.
