Following on from the piece about the Falklands by Chris Lewis, it's worth noting that there will soon be a book signing at Audlem Mill of an important new book about the Falklands War.

"They Couldn't Have Done It Without Us" covers the part played by the Merchant Navy in the conflict – revealing something of the experiences of the merchant seaman and women who made possible the retaking of the Falkland Islands.

Merchant Navy ships played a critical part, by getting the service personnel and supplies to the Falklands.

The book's author, John Johnson-Allen, a former merchant navy officer, and now maritime historian, will be signing copies of his book at Audlem Mill on Saturday 26th May – the day that 30 years ago the Atlantic Conveyor was hit by an Exocet missile, and the day before HMS Coventry sank.
