A major incident as been declared with a mill explosion near Congleton reported with several injured and up to five people trapped in a blazing building.

Cheshire East Council is asking motorists and people to avoid the Tunstall Road area of Bosley near Congleton.

Cheshire police have declared a major incident following reports of an explosion at Wood Flour Mills, in Tunstall Road, Bosley, near Congleton.

There are multiple casualties and reports of up to five people trapped in the building, which is on fire.

A total of 10 fire engines from Cheshire Fire and Rescue are attending and the air ambulance has been called to the scene.
