Sylvia Stead reports: "The skills, techniques and talents of the embroiderers of South Cheshire Embroiderers' Guild were showcased in an Exhibition at Audlem's Methodist Church this last week. It was a resounding success confirmed by the comments of the 236 visitors.

"The wide variety of textile artistry captivated the visitors and caused much consternation when they were invited to nominate their personal favourite. Visitors came from as far as France, Kent, Wilmslow, Northampton, the Potteries and surrounding villages, many choosing to take lunch in the village before returning for a second look.

"Stewards were members of the Guild and demonstrations of specialist techniques were held on each day by guild members.

"The Guild would like to thank Ralph Warburton from ASET and the Scout and Guild hall for allowing us to use their display stands. And finally, thanks to the Methodist Church for being a good host and allowing the exhibition to be held in their church hall.

"The success of this 18th Birthday Celebration was echoed by the visitors' comments – "Lost for words", "Speechless", "What creativity & attention to detail" & "Inspirational".

"The Guild's committee were pleased that a number of visitors have indicated that they would like to join the group and if you missed the exhibition but would like to know more about the South Cheshire Embroiderers' Guild, contact Sylvia Stead on 01270 811296.

"Thanks to all who contributed to make this exhibition one of which Audlem could be proud of. The committee are already putting plans in place for an even better Celebration in 3 years time for their 21st Birthday so we hope to see you there."
