Exclusive – Audlem computer virgin comes out of the closet

He may be Audlem's longest serving Parish Councillor. He may also be a current local Crewe & Nantwich Mayor's Oscar winner as 'Citizen of the Year'. But he's also been a self-confessed computer Luddite, known at various meetings for his cry: "Send it to me by snail mail' if ever emailing was mentioned. He was confidently expected to be the last person in Audlem to go online – but now his secret is out!

Despite years of resistance to the power of the Internet and email, well-known Audlem resident Bill Consterdine admitted yesterday he'd bought a computer. And he'd been getting to grips with the technology behind closed doors. A less than observant group at an Audlem Parish Plan meeting failed to spot the clues as he first brandished a report that had been downloaded. Next there was a reference to a website address. Then, when he mentioned several stories on Audlem Online, suspicion grew before an eventual confession was obtained under (slight) interrogation.
