Exciting Learning In and Out of School – Whatever the Weather!

Sapphire and Pearl classes had a wonderful time at Manchester Museum of Science and Industry on Monday. They took part in a workshop called 'Inventors Wanted.' This exciting show inspired curiosity, drawing out questions about real-life figures and basic engineering concepts and celebrating creativity and invention.

The children travelled back in time to 1885 and met the Salford-based inventor, Hans Renold, who was working on the invention of his bush roller chain. The children tested inventions in his workshop, learning how to transfer motion and the forces involved by experimenting with cogs and gears. The children also toured the museum, watched machine and engine demonstrations and explored and solved science problems in the interactive room 'Experiment.'

Children in Years 5 and 6 welcomed their parents to a shared Grammar, Punctuation and Spelling lesson on Thursday morning. The children enjoyed sharing their learning key writing skills led by Mr Perry.

Sapphire class had lots of fun in their outdoor session on Tuesday, despite the unpredictable weather! They worked hard and gained lots of new skills and were all full of news at the end of their session!

The very hungry caterpillar secretly visited Amethyst class on Thursday morning. He left a trail of all the tasty food he had nibbled. The children had fun searching around the school grounds to find all the food. Back in class they worked extremely hard making mini books about the life cycle of a butterfly as part of their Minibeast topic.
