As expected, there was an excellent talk at the Thursday evening meeting of Audlem District History Socierty and Gerald Emerton has a remarkable amount of knowledge at his fingertips.

News of his talk spread so we were pleased to welcome five visitors from Crewe/Nantwich and Sandbach including the author of 'Once I was lost but now I am Found' – a discoverer of lost Roman roads and also a metal detectorist who works with Cheshire archaeologists and went over the fields at Northwoods at the time of the dig there – see the forthcoming talk by Elizabeth Huntbach next November.

This added an extra dimension to questions at the end with some very interesting theories and discussion. Several people bought copies of Gerald's book – see photo. These are on sale at Nantwich Museum.
