Firstly, thank you all for your support in 2010. The shop now has had over 1000 books donated ranging from popular fiction, autobiographies, historical, leisure interests – horses, sailing, climbing, sports, travel, dictionaries and popular Children's books including Ladybird titles and a great range of teenage titles, all from a whole host of authors and publishers.

We have had some interesting first editions, signed copies and subjects come our way since opening at Hoc's Fat Pigeon in Cheshire Street.

For those that don't know the story behind Enya's Books, basically some of my colleagues and I, studying at Brine Leas 6th Form, are raising money for a World Challenge expedition to Costa Rica in July this year.

We will be there for a month most of which will be centered at a school in the Rain Forest helping with teaching English and carrying out necessary maintenance.

So far, I am about a third of the way to the £3,500 I need to raise, and the book shop is part of that fund raising activity. We run a book exchange service, for 25p per book exchanged; we sell paperbacks for £1.00 and Hardbacks for £2.00.

Some books and sets of books are priced up separately to reflect their value – as pointed out by a few of our knowledgeable customers (Thank you!) but still at very reasonable cost.

With the support of the village and visitors I feel confident that I will achieve my target and hopefully, help my colleagues. I have been asked about keeping the shop going after the expedition, and have looked at how this could be done and also provide benefit to the community, so watch this space.

Once again thank you all.
