The last league matches were played out on our bowling green during the first week in October. Indoor bowlers, however, will continue their pursuits in the Public Hall throughout the winter months.
Audlem & District Bowling Club had a very successful year, winning the South Cheshire K O Cup and the Whitchurch League's prestigious President's Cup.
During the season various events were organised by members of the Club to raise money for charity and this year we have raised £1,000 to be shared between Motor Neurone Disease Society UK, and Bloodwise (Blood Cancer UK)
On Saturday morning there was considerable activity at the Club as a number of club members demolished a shelter in preparation for a bigger and better version ready for next season.
At the same time Kevin Moult, of Air2Root Turf Care, was appearing to plough up our award winning green. In fact he was "hollow coring" – extracting plugs of grass and soil to aerate the green, and allow for top dressing and seed to be added. The green will be out of commission until January now to allow nature to take its course.
Bowlers will return as soon as permission is given, ready to practise for the new season which will begin in April.
