South Cheshire Embroiderers Guild held their A.G.M. last Thursday when we wished our Chairman, Sarah Johnson, a fond farewell. After two years of hard work and a total of six years on the committee, during which time she helped increase the membership, which was previously falling.

Sarah always presented a happy bubbly face to all our members. She thanked all Committee members for their support and commitment during her term of office.

After the closure of the formal meeting we held a session of Embroiderers' Question Time. The panel of experts were asked a number of questions including "which embroiderer had inspired them most?" and then "which flower did they like represent in their work?"

We also learnt how important it is to wear a mask at all time when working with modern materials particularly when heating man-made fabric such as Tyvek or Lutrador.

A panel member explained several methods for transferring an image onto fabric and showed us various samples, which demonstrated shade, size, and depth of colour. She encouraged us to use computers and informed us of the various programmes available which enable the manipulation of images and allow us to make them unique to our own creations.

Web sites from which transfer products can be purchased are: www.fibrecrafts.com, www.artvango.co.uk and www.roidesigns.co.uk

After many more questions from the floor the meeting was closed with a vote of thanks to all who took part.
