With the 2nd XI not playing, the focus last Saturday was on the 1st XI's Division 3 top-of-the-table home clash with Mossley. Both teams opened the season with a win and were looking to continue their successful start. In the end both teams had to settle for a draw and so remain unbeaten.

Winning the toss, Mossley decided to bat on a good wicket. Audlem got off to a good start as Stuart Elkes clean bowled opener Tony Brown, to make it 6 for 1. However, without Rich Brown, last week's star bowler, they were always struggling against positive batting and the visitors took control of the game with Adrian Austin dominating the bowling, scoring 79 before being caught off Lyndon Woodcock's spin bowling. Mossley eventually scored 170 for 6 off their 48 overs. Elkes and Woodcock both took two wickets.

In their reply Audlem were pegged back by tight bowling from Brown and Rob Mellor as they were restricted to just 10 runs from the first 10 overs. Skipper Chris Shenton gradually upped the scoring rate with a well-hit 31 before being bowled by Mellor. Settling for a draw, Audlem were steered home by Tom Measures (17 not out) and Tom Thorley (28 not out) as they finished at 105 for 4 off their 42 overs. Mossley gained 10 points and Audlem 5.

On Saturday the 1st XI visit league newcomers Offerton, whilst the 2nd XI resume their Division 5 campaign as they entertain table toppers Appleton, who have won both of their opening games.
