Donna Louise fund-raising success

This week we, The Friends of Donna Louise in Audlem, attended the HQ of the Trust.

The occasion was the announcements of the result of a challenge set in train to raise funds. Named the 'Enterprise Challenge', this involved £50 being given out to anyone who said they could aim to increase the figure by whatever means they could. ( A re-run of that famous parable!)

A very generous company funded the initial total of the £50s – £8000 in all!

Wednesday was the culmination of the plan with an invited audience of successful groups being briefed on the idea behind the drive for funds and the results. The range of groups was very wide, from individual students, Chip shops, Radio stations, Banks and various businesses. Plus ourselves.

We are pleased to report that our seed corn of £50 was used in our Big Auction Night last December and we raised just under £3500 from that small base. The total raised overall was £26,000.

As such, we were the most successful of all the groups taking part and received the certificate as shown.

Whilst at The Hospice, we had the chance to see all the facilities and they are so top drawer. If anyone would like to visit, we are sure we can organise this – it is quite salutary and so beautiful to see just what work is done there to help children up to the age of 19 in end of life caring.
