Amongst the messages received by AudlemOnline was one with some comments that may be worth considering for next year's event although with the large numbers visiting, it may be difficult to implement an effective policy.

Marie Bond says: "I would just like to start by saying how much we enjoyed the Transport weekend, we had such a lovely time and we could have walked around and around. We were a family visiting from locally with two young children aged 4 and 6 along with my parents.

"As we had such a lovely time we will definitely be making a return trip next year but I do feel I need to email over my concerns in relation to the dogs which were at the event with their owners. I do not complain but on this occasion I feel I must voice my concern, as I have young children.

"Firstly a dog which was not on a lead ran up to my son growling and bouncing at him, we had to pick my son up and tell the dog to be off, fortunately all was ok. Then we saw a dog running in the road in front of cars. It was not on a lead and narrowly missed being run over by a Landrover which was attending the event.

"Finally, but the worst, was that a dog and their owner were attacked by a young dog at the canalside which shook us all up and was very upsetting. I do believe these dogs should have had muzzles on due to their breed.

"I would just like to reiterate that this is not a complaint, just a concern and feel that a stronger message should be sent out to dog owners on the run up to the fantastic event as this was distressing and unpleasant for my young children, and the rest of my family to witness."
