Dog fouling near the school

Last year parents were reporting dog fouling as a problem in the roads close to Audlem school. Recently several parents have highlighted that it is also an issue on the public footpath which runs alongside the car park at the front of school.

Obviously this is a major concern as many of the children and families use that path as access to school grounds at the start and end of the school day and some parents have reported children stepping in dog mess whilst using this route.

The School Council is planning to design some 'please don't let your dog foul this footpath – we need to use this path to get to our school' type of posters to laminate and put along the pathway (in a similar way that many schools do the 'please keep the speed limit near our school' children's posters.

The local police have been consulted and they are generally supportive of trying to reduce the menace. Nick Jarvis says that they can issue tickets for dog fouling but the dog has to be observed in the act and then the owner seen not to clear it up. He has undertaken to contact the Community Wardens who also deal with this type of issue.

So for the sake of the health and well-being of the village children, please clear up after your dog anywhere, but especially close to the school.
