Distraction Burglary

AudlemOnline has received this warning from Neighbourhood Watch, sent by Sharon Jones (Police, PCSO, Crewe LPU Nantwich PCSO)

Please be aware we have a distraction burglary in the Audlem and Knutsford area.
On this occasion we have had two males who have pretended to be from the water board, they have showed some sort of ID and then one male has taken the occupant to the kitchen area whilst the other has had the opportunity to look for items to steal.

• If you are unsure DON'T let them in
• You could ask them for ID and ask them to wait outside whilst you ring the company to check if they are genuine. Remember to lock your doors.
• If you have a door chain please use it
• If they are genuine and you refuse them entry they will be happy to wait whilst you contact the company or come back when you have arranged an appointment with the company
• Please ring 101 if you see any suspicious people or vehicles in your area and try and remember as much information as possible.
