Derek Stockton Retires

Derek Stockton

For the past 28 years , Derek has done a sterling job in mowing the whole of the cemetery . Weaving his way aboard a motor mower and around some 1500 and more headstones with impeccable accuracy.

The task is quite tricky and the Burial Board in their wisdom agreed that we should change the ride-on mower every two years given the need to mow as required.

Sadly Derek has now had to retire due to health reasons but will still be seen each day on his favourite bench by the chapel.

We wish him well and will keep close contact with him.

A great servant for us over the years.

I have been able to recruit one Alan Cox to take over the task and he began work today .
