News from Audlem St James' School:

Work from our recent Literacy Week has now been displayed throughout school and showcases the wide range of activities classes took part in during the week.

They make a wonderful impact on our environment and it is great to see the effort and care that has gone into them. Thank you to staff and children for your hard work on these.

Last Monday saw our Year 5 and 6 children heading off to Menai for their residential. We welcomed them back to school on Wednesday, tired but very happy after their canoeing, zip wire, raft building and bushcraft adventures!

Well done to all of the children, parent helpers and staff who went on this trip – you all tried lots of new things and were great amassadors for our school.

Many of our Reception parents joined us for lunch on Tuesday. It was lovely to see how confident the children were showing their parents what we do at lunchtime and I know many parents commented on the lovely food they ate. Thank you to Mrs Hayward, Mrs Jones and the Mid Day Assistants for looking after everyone so well.

Thank you to the EYFS parents who attended our Phonics information meetings this week. This is such an important area for home and school to work together on and feedback from these sessions has been very positive.

I know many parents have already signed up to come and see a 'live' phonics session in EYFS next half term. Please speak to one of the EYFS team if you have not yet signed up. Thanks to Mrs Hayward for organising these sessions.

FASA

A reminder that all Christmas card orders need to be returned to school by Monday 20th October in time for the orders to be processed and returned to school next half term.
The Spooky Disco is nearly here! Remember to book your places as these are limited. Please contact Lorna Saunders (07801238819) or Deborah Varley (07940914639) to book a place.

Thank you to all of the families who have donated to our Rag Bag Bin recently. Remember, any old clothes, shoes or covers that are donated are converted to money for school resources.

Advanced notice – FASA will be holding a Non uniform day on Friday 21st November to collect for 'Big Switch On' Tombola donations of bottles or chocolates for their stall in the village the following week. Please support this if you can.

ABC Childcare

Don't forget, ABC's out of school club opens at 7.45am for breakfast club and then again at 3pm until 6pm for after school club. Both clubs offer great fun and great care. For more information, call Lynsey on 01270 669050.

Recommend us to a friend and you will receive either a £20.00 gift voucher or £20.00 off your next childcare bill. Terms and conditions apply. Email abcchildcareservices@btinternet to receive your recommendation voucher.

Bonfire Competition

There is an exciting competition linked to ASET's Bonfire and Fireworks Night on Saturday 8th November.

Children from Nursery to Year 6 are asked to draw a picture of the bonfire and fireworks they might see at Audlem's display this year. The closing date is Thursday 6th November and the prize is the chance to light the Bonfire or start the Fireworks this year. Good luck to everyone who enters!

Spanish Themed Lunch

Mrs Hayward, our School Cook, is holding our first themed lunch of the year on Tuesday.

Finally

Our first Parent evenings of this school year take place next week. Please contact your child's class teacher if you have not made an appointment yet.

Representatives from our Governing Body will be available during these evenings for parents to speak to and share thoughts and views about school issues with. I hope many of you are able to take this opportunity to meet with them.
