Defra win puts Audlem in the spotlight

(The website link that was here no longer works) Defra, the Department for the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, is planning to publish a booklet to encourage villages across the country to enter this year's 'Building Community Life' award. The publication features all fifty county winners of last year's award in some detail but pride of place, with a full page of information and two splendid photographs, goes to Audlem, the national winners of last year's award. Indeed, seeing how many villages won their county award and the quality of so many of those places, makes Audlem's achievement in the competition even more impressive. It is hoped some copies of the brochure will be made available to the village as soon as they are printed.

Arrangements are currently being made by Defra and Audlem Parish Council for the presentation of a newly commissioned plaque to the village some time next month. More details will be given as soon as they have been finalised.
