An Audlem resident writes: "I thought I'd share with your readers a recent family event, often a sad day when one's fledglings move to their own nest, but often a happy occasion. What a joy, the day you pick up the keys to your first home, admittedly not where you wanted to buy – preferably in your own village – but still a nice market town not far away – Nantwich. Oh and what a welcome from one of the service provider – National Clampers. What a service, five minutes in to your new home and they then show you how efficient they are at applying a clamp to your vehicle!

"Not only that, they then demonstrate the benefits of the service and how their operatives firmly stand by their decision to put one on in the absence of a parking permit. Only the passing of £80.00 plus will allow them to remove it. OK, let's test how good a service it is, let's ring their head office! What demonstrations of support for their operatives – fantastic, pay them £80+ and they'll willingly remove it.

"So, not even having put the kettle on, after just handing over not a lot shy of 6 figures, and a life time of commitment to paying it, for a new apartment and bingo another £80.00. Also the inconvenience caused to one's younger sister, to then miss her riding lesson because of the time taken to resolve the issue – another £20.00 up the swannee – not to mention adding stress and taking the shine off what should have been a happy occasion in one's life. Still they are consistent; they also did the same thing to one of our local shopkeeper's sons at the same place.

"Thank you National Clampers – it will be a day to remember – for all the wrong reasons."
