Damage to Saplings at Turnpike

Why do people do this??

As people are aware lots of saplings have been donated and planted around Turnpike.

Then this happens -- some moron(s) -- probably more than 1 so that there are witnesses to their idiocy -- simply break the branches of the trees which will probably result in them dying at this early stage in their life.

These photos were taken at the weekend -- they're located as you walk down the Green Lane side of the top field and bear round to the left above the house.
