It was Audlem Parish Council's monthly meeting on Monday 2nd March. We have already reported on Celia Bloor's letter to the council about documents relating to the church pavement. On Monday, she addressed the council and said:

I am representing the ADAPT Transport Group. This is an update on the cycle racks project.

On receiving permission for the site by the toilets at the car park, we found that the installation cost was the same for one rack as for two.

With the extra cost of the plastic grid surface, this meant it would cost more and we would still have no cycle rack in the centre of the village.

We are waiting for the land ownership issue to be decided. All the evidence so far points to the Parish Council owning the land outside the church wall. ADAPT has applied to the Land Registry Office to see if the land is registered.

We are waiting for their reply and a decision by the two parties involved – the Church and the Parish Council.

The land around the tree by the Co-op has been suggested and we believe that belongs to Mrs Doreen Moseley and she would worry about damage to the tree (the Copper Beech) and its roots.

It would be helpful if the Parish Council could produce a map showing land it knows to belong to the Parish and put it on display.

We also hope to produce a map of local 'fairly safe' cycling routes to Nantwich, Crewe, Whitchurch, Market Drayton and Woore.

Three members of ADAPT are going to a meeting of the East Cheshire Cycling Group on Tuesday 6th March. This group have already produced a map covering the Congleton and Middlewich areas and we hope to meet the people involved with that.
