As the bowling season comes to an end (the last league match is on the 6th. October) we had our final Club cup competition on Sunday. The J D Walley Cup was won by Jimmy Stretch and Vera Thelwell, who beat Keir Glover and Ben Thelwell in the final.
Opportunity was taken to have yet another raffle in aid ADCA's Dementia Support Club, and the £66 raised on the day meant that the total raised this year by Audlem Bowling Club was £1,132.
We recently played hosts to volunteers from the Overwater Wheelyboat Service for a taster in crown green bowls, with expert tuition and encouragement provided by John Stead.
Whilst league matches will finish in October, the bowling green remains open throughout the winter months for members and invited guests, although it will be closed in November for necessary green maintenance.
Over this past year there have been noticeable improvements in the grounds of the Club with two new shelters designed and built by members. In addition, a new website has been launched and this is now included in Audlem Online LINKS page, or can be accessed direct here.
Our picture does not show vandalism on the green by a losing competitor, but maintenance work on the green being carried out by Kevin Moult of Air 2Root Turf Care Ltd of Market Drayton (October 2022)
