AudlemOnline can today reveal an exclusive.

Many readers will recall that French TV were recently in the area interviewing people about their views on Brexit and in doing so we have it on good authority that they were researching whether any farmers with land along the canal were interested in joining with French enterprises in breeding frogs.

Apparently the French are concerned that if we do not stay in the single market their export of frogs legs to the upmarket restaurants in Cheshire will be hit by tariffs and their business damaged.

Their solution, therefore, was to explore whether there was any local interest in joint ventures – and what better place for a frog farm than along a canal with established local farmers?

It may be too early to know what the reaction of local businesses was but don't be surprised if you see a menu option in the Lord Combermere in the not too distant future of Light and Crispy Frogs legs (see photo).
