As normal we were greeted by our lead volunteer 'Ange' who is responsible for the various tasks we undertake on our monthly task force days.

After the programme of work for the day including the safe methods of operation were 'rolled out' by Ange she took a moment to introduce the team to 'Tom Freeland' who is employed by the C & R T as the 'Volunteering Development Coordinator' this made a total of seven persons involved in todays task day.

Part of the day involved repairs to the gravel entrance / frontage of the work yard / adjoining the Audlem Mill Shop entrance ' please see – photograph attached.

Also part of the team spent time in and around the 'Audlem' sign situated on the off side of the canal above the raised stone flower bed, with the remainder of the team involved in clearing undergrowth and re staining the safety hand rails again on the off side of the canal opposite the Shroppie Fly Pub ' – again please see photographs.

I would like to take a moment to thank Phil Shemilt for covering last months report of volunteering activities whilst I was away on holiday 'Thank you Phil'.

Whilst Phil was involved in clearing weeds and freshening up the above mentioned 'raised stone flower bed' he was in turn joined by two members of the 'Audlem in Bloom Team' Sue and Andy, thank you for the new plants, they have really freshened up the area.

All in all another very rewarding Task Force Day and as always we were looked after with plenty of hot drinks and the 'odd biscuit'

As always we meet on the second Saturday of the month with a 10:00 start.

A footnote to this months report: The 'A Team' are on duty again this week, Thursday 17th and Friday 18th with a programme of work arranged by our 'Angela Barnett and Derek Kellett of C & R T' who have set up a programme to repair the tow path surface below lock 13 down to and including lock 14, they have already had 20 tonnes of tow path dressing stone delivered into a temporary compound within the Shroppie Fly car park, thank you Shropie Fly.

The volunteer team will be joined and supported by members of Derek Kellet's team, obviously if anyone finds they have time on their hands on this Thursday and Friday you are more than welcome to report at any time to 'Ange' for a local site and system of work induction.

Derek Jones.
