The Canal & River trust is hoping to recruit volunteer Lock Keepers to help with the maintenance of the canal in and around Audlem.
Their new 'Join the Daves' (or Dereks – Ed.) campaign aims to recruit more volunteers to take on the iconic role of lock keeper across 2,000 miles of canals and rivers, including Audlem.
"Lock keepers have been working on Britain's canals for hundreds of years, although the role has changed over time. These days our volunteer lock keepers help us to look after our beautiful waterways, assist boaters, welcome visitors and maintain our historic locks."
