Audlem Community Canal Welcome

The Canal and River Trust invites you to discuss ideas for making more of the canal, its locks, wharf and towpath in the Audlem area. The canal has been at the heart of Audlem's economy and environment since it was opened in 1835. It attracts many visitors by narrowboat and many more who visit by car, bicycle and enjoy walks in the local area, helping support local businesses.

We want to know what improvements would make visits to the canal and the rest of Audlem more enjoyable both for visitors and for local people?

The focus is on the canal but also how it connects and relates to the rest of the village. If you have ideas about any of the following then please come along to the Canal and River Trust's workshop on Monday 22 February at the Methodist Church Hall at 2.00-4.30pm:

How to improve visitor facilities, information and signage, enhancements to the local environment and towpath walks, cycling and other outdoor activities events, arts, culture and the history of the canal wildlife and the natural environment

New business ideas how to promote all the things which bring people to Audlem, including new technology and social media and involving more local people e.g. volunteers, young people and children

If you can't make it in the afternoon do drop by later to have a quick chat and make sure your ideas are included. We shall stay at the Methodist Hall from the end of the workshop at4.30 until 7.00pm.

We'd particularly welcome local businesses and members of local groups who are involved in the environment, arts, culture, events, and outdoor activities including young people.
