The Cricket Club's annual Local Knockout tournament is due to start tonight at 6.30, weather permitting, when The Dark Side play The Combermere.

The tournament rules forbid regular league players taking part. The format is a series of group 15-over per side games where all the seven competing teams play each other. At the end of this stage the top four go through to the semi finals, which will be held in the morning of Sunday 28th August. The final, which comprises two innings per team, will be played that afternoon.

The games are played every Tuesday and Thursday evening until mid August. They are always well supported, so if you want to watch some entertaining cricket go and spend an evening at the Cricket Club and sample the wares at the bar.
