As reported on Thursday, valiant efforts were being made to save both today's 2nd XI's league game and tomorrow's six-a-side competition at the Gorse Croft ground. Unfortunately, those efforts have come to nought.

Despite many hours being put in at the ground by players, especially Steve Farnell and John Wainwright, surface water still remained this morning on part of the outfield and the weekend's cricket had to be called off. In addition, just to compound the situation, the 1st XI's game at Holmes Chapel has also been called off, again due to a waterlogged pitch.

Next Saturday, in Division 3, the 1st XI plays at home against second-placed Rostherne whilst the 2nd XI travels to Mossley in another mid-table clash in Division 5. Both games start at 2.00 pm.
