In a high-scoring game, Audlem 2nd XI just lost when they travelled to play league leaders Appleton. After losing the toss Audlem were put in to bat on a wet track and were soon in trouble losing their first wicket without scoring. However, a superb batting display by George Gay, which made a mockery of the conditions, led the fightback. Gay was eventually out just six runs short of his century. His innings included 18 fours and 2 sixes. After a mini middle-order collapse, Audlem's tail enders added 63 valuable runs to take the score to 192 all out, with good contributions from Oliver Burney (23) and Geoff Seddon (17 not out).

In reply Appleton started solidly on a much easier track and big hitting by their captain kept them up with the required run rate of 4.3 runs per over. In a close finish, Appleton eventually scored the winning runs with only two overs remaining. Steve Lawson was the most successful Audlem bowler with 2 for 31.

Audlem 1st XI's home fixture to Appleton was abandoned with the outfield covered in standing water. This followed the previous week's complete washout with both matches being abandoned due to the weather.

Similarly, today's friendly match at home to Rainhill has been abandoned due to the ground conditions.

Next Saturday the 1st XI travel to Eastham for a vital bottom-of-the-table clash, whilst the 2nd XI have a double header playing at home to Kerridge on Saturday and travelling to Wilmslow Wayfarers on Sunday for a match postponed earlier in the season.
