Saturday Team

Audlem journeyed to Wood Lane on Saturday looking to gain the points to maintain the pressure on the top two teams in the division. This fixture marks the halfway point in the season so the league table now starts to give some insight into the possible end of season promotion and relegation issues.

Audlem were invited to bat first after losing the toss but the home skipper must have regretted his decision as Chris Shenton (32 ) and Dan Butler soon got into their stride and added 72 for the first wicket. If the hosts thought they might have had a way back into the game hope was extinguished with the arrival to the wicket of in form Andy Rothwell ( 77 ) who piled on another 151 runs for the second wicket. Martin Malloy ( 19 ) and Tom Measures ( 6 not out ) kept Dan company until the completion of the 40 overs whereby Dan had compiled a magnificent unbeaten 145 in the huge total of 298 for 3.

The Wood Lane batsmen had little hope of overhauling the mammoth score and were soon floundering in a vain attempt to attain some momentum in their innings. Only skipper Ian Wain who hit a well constructed 49 was able to offer any meaningful resistance as Neil Humphries produced his best form of the season, completing his 8 over allocation with bowling figures of 6 for 15 ( four of Neil's victims were clean bowled and the other two stumped ). The other wickets were shared between Callum McIlveen, Simon Swift and Chris Shenton plus a run out. The curtain came down on Wood Lane's innings in the 27th over on 98 all out leaving Audlem victors by the huge margin of 202 runs.

Next Saturday Audlem are again on their travels , this time they head off to Kidsgrove who are in 4th position in the division.

Sunday Team

Audlem's Sunday team were without a game as Lymm CC were unable to raise a team for the arranged fixture. Next Sunday Poppyfields from the West Midlands are the visitors to The Gorse Croft with a 2.00pm start time.
