Cricket Report

Saturday's Match

Audlem returned home from Stafford on Saturday with maximum points after their latest victory.

The game was tighter than the five wicket margin suggests as the hosts managed to post 150 for 9 off their allocated overs. J. Glayshire held the early batting together with a steady 32 as Simon Swift was creating havoc in dismissing 4 batsmen for only 18 . Glayshire eventually managed to find a partner capable of resistance in V. Achanya ( 42 ) and started to accelerate until Dave Parkinson removed Achanya with the score on 117 and Vijayan Raul claimed the scalp of Glayshire on 136.

Audlem never make things easy for themselves as two wickets fell with only 29 runs on the board in the reply. A fine 54 run partnership between Irfan Shaik ( 24 ) and Dave Blatherwick ( 34 ) got the innings back on track but with 52 still needed the game was far from won. Ben Salisbury ( 11 ) , Chris Shenton ( 18 not out ) & Dave Parkinson ( 25 not out )managed to get the job done with minimum fuss and two overs to spare.

Next week Audlem host Porthill Park at The Gorse Croft with a 1.00pm start.

Sunday's Match

Sundays opponents opponents contacted the fixture secretary on Thursday to inform him they were unable to raise a team due to many of their players wanting to watch the European football final. Despite various attempts to find an alternative fixture all efforts drew a blank which left the Sunday X1 without a game.

Next Sunday the team travel to Tattenhall with a 1.00pm start time
