I have just returned from a very interesting, creative and relaxing day at Audlem Mill learning the traditional skill of Rag Rug Making.

The class Tutor, Kath Evans, explained the various methods of rag rug making including the different material and tools used for the various techniques.

Included in the one day course was an excellent home cooked lunch of steak braised in venison stock served with aniseed carrots, boiled and roast potatoes and broccoli. Plenty of tea, coffee, juice and water was available throughout the day together with an afternoon tea of tea and cream cakes!

Various courses are available throughout the Winter months at Audlem Mill and I can thoroughly recommend a day course there. The six ladies who took part today, were all provided with rug making materials and by the end of the day had learned the skill of rag rag rug making and had rag rugs in various colours and stages of completion to take home to complete.

A very pleasant day learning a new skill in an historic building with a good tutor.
