Next weekend, the Audlem Festival will be in full swing. All the details can be found on the web site Audlemfestival.com which gives the fullest picture of just what will be happening with masses of music to suit all tastes. Over 30 different performers and groups are playing in all the pubs, the Grand Open Air Stage, the Canal Wharf, the Butter Market and in St James'Church.

And there's much more than music. There'll be a wonderful exhibition of Stitch Work in the Methodist Hall – all free.

The Public Hall – a four-part comedy with a small amount of music about the life and the people that use a Village Public Hall over a 12 month period – written by Colin Cliffe and performed by the 5A's players – promises to be a great theatrical show in the Public Hall on 23rd May. Book tickets – £5 and £3 concessions – on 811468.

Down at the Mill Shop on Audlem Wharf there should be some fun music (of a sort – without risking the wrath of the Australian nation) with a Didgeridoo playing competition. And it's not just Didgeridoos on offer at the Mill as a host of strange and wonderful instruments from around the world are now on sale. They can be played by even those with limited musical ability, will make you smile and make a great gift for all ages.

Next week, Audlem Online will be featuring the programme for the Festival as the build-up to one of the best weekends of the year in Audlem continues.
