Audlem Parish Council's Chair and Vice-Chair Heather Jones and Geoff Seddon met with local MP Antoinette Sandbach at her surgery on 19th August 2016.

The main topic of discussion was the closure of the Post Office. Ms Sandbach explained that she had met with a senior Post Office representative and had made her concern very clear about the problems created for pensioners and those residents with limited car availability.

She had asked for a mobile Post Office to come to the village as a temporary measure, but had been told that none was available. Ms Sandbach was pleased to hear that the Parish Council has set up a meeting with Royal Mail to try and sort out the problems incurred by having to travel to Crewe to collect undelivered parcels.

The Neighbourhood Plan was also discussed and Ms Sandbach referred to the "Darnhall Estate decision" made in the High Court of Justice, which is encouraging news for Audlem. This had made it clear that a Neighbourhood Plan can be progressed before a Local Plan is in place.

In his findings Steven Sauvain QC stated "There is no current legal provision that seeks to prevent the preparation or adoption of a lower tier plan because a higher tier plan is under preparation or review."

Also raised was concern of the Parish Council about the detrimental effect of the previous and current closures of the A529 and the previous closure of the A525 is having on the traders in the village.
