Corbrook Flooding — Evidence of the cause?

Residents may be aware that with even just moderate rain and snow, the flooding at Corbrook re-appears.

Recently, a broadband company was lifting the manhole covers at Corbrook and a Parish Councillor happened to be driving past and stopped for a look.

The photograph shows the manhole cover at this site lifted. Silt is not just blocking the drain. Unbelievably, it actually fills the entire manhole to the brim, such that an imprint of the cover is left in the silt.

There is no effective drainage.

The latest flooding was reported to CE highways on 10/3/2023 along with the image above. The point has been made that this image is clear evidence of CE's failure to meet their statutory requirement to maintain the highway under Section 41 of the Highways Act (1980) and that definitive action is required.

Hopefully, the presence of a little evidence might help in moving this towards a resolution!
