Philip Hesketh, who supplied the photographs published on Audlem Online on Wednesday that showed all too clearly the traffic problems in Shropshire Street, has been in touch with the Co-op's regional manager.

Philip reports: "I have received a call from Paul Dickinson of the Co-op. He informed me that there is a clear intention to deliver around the back of the store. He recognizes that deliveries to the front have caused all the associated chaos and he wants to ensure that the store considers the local environmental issues.

"He is waiting for our friends Muller to complete their work, and also from his own legal team, over what was supposed to be provided for lorries to turn. Mr Dickinson mentioned that there seems to be some additional parking spaces at the back which may be an issue, but he wants to cross that bridge once they start delivering to the rear. He also said that they could address the size of the lorry to accommodate the smaller turning space.

"I got the impression that this was a pressing issue for them and he was going to come and see me personally. He told me he was kept informed of the debate on the Audlem website and that he was prepared to give an interview or prepare a statement for the Forum. This may clear the air and generate some positive PR for them."

Philip asks that the webteam follow this offer up, which we will. More when we have been able to speak to Mr Dickinson.
