Knowing how many keen cooks read AudlemOnline and its monthly recipes from ADAPT, we thought you might like to see, if you haven't been aware of it, a great way to separate eggs.
Just click on the photo to the right or here and all will be revealed.
Incidentally, we mustn't assume that all know how to carry out the cookery book instruction of 'separate two eggs'.
The great and late Elizabeth David, who probably did more to revolutionise ideas about food in Britain than any other writer, always assumed a reasonable level of knowledge and possession of simple skills.
In the preface to one her books, is the following comment by an Elizabeth David admirer. "Listen: nothing is simple to the Anxious Pedant. The restaurateur Prue Leith once watched a wretched cookery-school pupil (male, of course) deconstruct the following line of a recipe: 'Separate the eggs.'
"For a thoughtful while he pondered the two eggs placed in front of him, before carefully moving one a few inches to his left and the other a few inches to his right. Satisified, he went on to the second line of instruction."
We are sure no AudlemOnline reader would fall into the category of Anxious Pedant. But we are sure you will love the Youtube demo of how to separate eggs.
