Consultation on Local Development

A major consultation exercise is underway as Cheshire East pulls together its Local Development Framework.

In everyday language, that's the Borough's plan for the future and it will determine how much development is needed in the next twenty or so years, where it should take place and which areas should be protected.

The plan will look at new housing, employment and retail development across Cheshire East and will set out what needs to considered when considering planning applications.

Cheshire East says it wants to work closely with local communities to look at the challenges facing each town or village. While much of the consultation focuses on towns like Crewe and Macclesfield, they also want to hear from villages like Audlem.

As a result, local parish councillors have arranged that local homes will each receive a copy of the questionnaire and these are being distributed shortly.

If a significant number of Audlem questionnaires are returned (and there's a Freepost address on the back page of the 4-page form), it's more likely that local residents' views will be taken into account than if a few responses are received, or one form is filled out by the parish council.

You will need to specify 'Other' and 'Audlem' to Question 2 as the village doesn't make it on to the pre-printed list of Cheshire East locations. After that, the form seems simple to complete.

If you would like your say in how the area, and Audlem in particular, is to move forward, please take a look at the form and, hopefully, return it completed to Cheshire East. You do have to include your name and address as anonymous responses are not accepted.
