Shane Thomson writes: "Just want to know who cares for the trees in the village. I ask this because some of the red flowering hawthorn trees look to be in very poor health. This includes one at the top of Daisy Bank and some across from Broadways.

"When these are in flower, they are a fantastic sight. The fact that they are quite large makes me think that it could be old age. It would be nice to see some youg trees planted for future generations."
