The Charity Plate has been running since 1990 when David and Sylvia Dykes presented a trophy to the Club to mark their silver wedding anniversary. This trophy is awarded to the winner of an annual knock-out competition on a day when all of the funds raised go towards local charities.
Since 1990 Audlem Bowling Club has raised nearly £10,000 for charities as diverse as the Air Ambulance, St. Luke’s Hospice, Tree Tops Nursery and Audlem First Responders. This year the chosen charities are the Wingate Centre at Wrenbury and Muscular Dystrophy Campaign.
Money is raised through the knock-out competition together with a cake stall, tombola, raffles and even on-site betting , organised by “Honest” Joe Walley. Refreshments are provided for a modest charge and there is a licensed bar.
Whether you are a bowler or not - all are welcome. The day starts at 11:30 and is scheduled to close about 18:00. Fingers crossed for good weather.
