Combermere shortlisted for Hudson's Heritage Awards "Best Wedding Venue"

Hudson's Heritage Awards celebrate the crème de la crème of national heritage visitor attractions, and Combermere Abbey is delighted to be short listed for the 'Best Wedding Venue' in the forthcoming 2016 Awards.

One of four wedding venues on the list, they are joined by Waddesdon Manor, Buckinghamshire; Wentworth Conservatory, Barnsley and Chiddingstone Castle, Kent. The Awards will be announced at a celebratory luncheon in London, next March.

The Awards are decided by an independent panel of five judges, chaired by Norman Hudson OBE, and the line-up of heritage experts includes the acclaimed television presenter and author, Lucinda Lambton.

Aside from 'Best Wedding Venue', categories include 'Best Shopping' and 'Best Family Day Out', each celebrating a different angle of the visitor experience, there's even an Award for the 'Best Loo'. There are 10 categories to be awarded in total by the judging panel with a further special category, sponsored by Fortnum & Mason, for 'Best Heritage Picnic Spot' which is to be awarded by the visitors themselves.

Sarah Callander Beckett, owner of Combermere Abbey, said:

"We are delighted to be on the short list for these prestigious awards, Hudson's do an excellent job to support our national treasures and it's our pleasure to be recognized by them, along with high profile venues in other parts of the country."

The beauty and allure of historic Combermere Abbey attracts brides and grooms from near and far, seeking somewhere unique, exclusive and unquestionably romantic to tie the knot.

Most marriage ceremonies take place in the Glasshouse with views of the world's only fruit tree maze in the Abbey's Walled Gardens, with The Pavilion being used for wedding breakfast and reception.

New from January 2016, is The Library, a recently-restored and magnificent room, on the first floor of the Abbey itself. Available during January and February only each year, The Library provides a majestic backdrop for a mid-winter wedding ceremony.
