The September meeting of the Audlem W.I. was a talk entitled "The Circle of Life" given by Andrew Bennett who is an End Of Life Public Health worker.

He spoke about the need to talk about death with our friends and families so that there isn't the taboo about dying.

The Cheshire Living Well, Dying Well Partnership, supported by St Luke's Cheshire Hospice and Macmillan Cancer Support, has been established to enable effective multi-agency response and support for the Cheshire Living Well, Dying Well Public Health Programme of Work and the needs of local communities.

When it comes to talking there is perhaps one last taboo – death and dying. Lots of us just don't feel comfortable talking about death or loss and yet natural death is a normal part of life for us all, young and old alike.

Sadly we all know stories where families and friends have been left with the regret of 'if only', wondering if they did the right thing or family arguments about who should get a treasured possession.

But, if we have the courage to face the issue and talk and make plans for our end of life, not only are we more likely to have a 'good death' ourselves but we will reduce the stress and chance of regrets for our loved ones.

It was a serious meeting which gave us all plenty to think about and most people agreed that we should talk to those we love about our wishes and feelings.

Our next meeting 2nd October at 2.00p.m. is by a W.I. member from Nantwich who has become very involved with the W.I. initiative "Let's Cook" She will be telling us about the work done in the Nantwich and Crewe area to help young families to cook nourishing meals.

The competition will be "Your Favourite Recipes". It would be good if lots of members brought recipes so that we can compile them into a "Favourite Recipe leaflet"
