Christmas tree lights make way for Spring

It seems like only yesterday that ADAS and the merry band of volunteers were adorning the village with sparkle. Following many turkey, goose or nut roast dinners and Christmas puds, Sunday's exercise was a welcome use of excess calories still hanging around.

The tree-felling of the big tree is quite an operation on its own. For all the small trees, gangs of ladder-carriers took them down, then delivered the small trees to the Butter Market gang for stripping of lights. The smell from the trees

made us feel as though we were in a forest.

We had a fantastic turnout of volunteers and, thankfully, the weather was especially kind to us. Thank you so much to the volunteers, all of whom were working so fast it was difficult to do a head count -- but we got to twenty-nine! Your

input, as ever, is invaluable and so much appreciated.

Also a huge thank you to the Scouts and Cubs for helping to clear away all the trees.
