The big tree is now in place. The small trees all assigned to their brackets, the result of many finger numbing hours spent by the Executive committee members of ADAS.

We were aided in a massive way by:

  • Richard Furber in giving his time, his tractor and his trailer.

  • Jonathan Gleave with his long loader machine.

  • Pete Hollinshead and his expertise with both power saw and driving the cherry picker.

  • Dutton Company and Til for loaning us the cherry picker.

  • Volunteers joining us in dressing the lights onto the small trees.

  • Graham & Angela Allison in giving us the tree from their plantation.

  • And most importantly by Phil Baker ensuring it all works electrically.

This was all accomplished in our desire to make Audlem a lovely place in which to live: To visit: To shop: And to dine.

All time and volunteers hours and machines were given totally freely and with good heart – as they too believe in “for the village, by the village”.

We purchased 50 small trees, a time of considerable expenditure. The lights, trees,  etc – all by ADAS from funds we raise through the year. Funds that in part are achieved by the envelope campaign.  And by the support of Traders and Village businesses, for which we thank you.

The Big Switch On is tomorrow, Thursday. Before that we have some remedial tasks to carry out to ensure all works on the night.

We hope all – residents, visitors and businesses will enjoy the fruits of our labours.
