Christmas cards still arriving

It used to be the Twelve Days of Christmas. Now, however, thanks to the incompetence of the Royal Mail, the Festive season is going on for ever as Christmas cards, some posted a month ago, continue to arrive.

As Audlem Online has pointed out before, this is not the fault, in any way, of the local Post Office and staff who laboured through terrible conditions to deliver the mail in December. They, however, can only deliver mail that eventually gets through from the Warrington Sorting Office.

The CW area was officially measured as the 120th worst postal district (out of 121) late last year – see report on 10th December on Audlem Online. A Royal Mail spokesman then said the Warrington problem had been sorted but this has proved as misleading as the promised delivery times for First Class mail.

The Chatbox has received many messages about cards still arriving. Parcels, including Amazon priority postage paid for, have also failed to arrive within a week of promised delivery. One wonders how long Amazon will pay out refunds without switching their deliveries to a more reliable organisation. That, we suspect, would be a body blow to the postal service.

Please keep sending in reports of late deliveries. It may be that bad publicity will persuade Royal Mail to sort out the mess they created by closing the Crewe Sorting Office. But then again......
