Chip shop to re-open

Lovers of fish & chips will be delighted to know that Just The Plaice Too in Cheshire Street is re-opening on Wednesday 20th May. The shop has been closed since a fire caused damage on 15th April. We are sure that all will wish Janet and team well as they get back to business.

Two fire tenders had to be called out last month although fortunately nobody was hurt in the incident. The news spread far and wide, so much so that Audlem Online received an inquiry within hours of the fire from a local resident with a particularly long commute – he works on a oil rig platform off the coast of Angola in south west Africa.

At the time we wondered if his oil rig had particularly sensitive fire detection sensors that operated over thousands of miles. Were we on to a sensational 'strange but true' story, we pondered. We have to confess, however, he had received the news from home by more conventional means!

From 20th May, if you need to plaice (oh dear) orders by phone, it's 01270 812242. Failing that, simply join in the gentle banter in the queue.
